College Scholars

The Council On Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) offers The CLEO College Scholars Program. Its purpose is to identify, motivate and prepare students for a career in the legal profession. The College Scholars program aims to help low-income, minority and otherwise disadvantaged students become competitive law school applicants. Committed students can learn how to successfully navigate the law school admission process and underwrite their success in law school by participating in the College Scholars program.

CLEO College Scholars Program includes:

During the year we offer three different pre-law seminars for college students throughout various regions of the nation:

For Freshmen – Attend CLEO’s Road to Law School where you will learn about the law school admission process and be exposed to topics such as:

  • analytical reasoning
  • logic, critical reading and writing
  • mock admissions
  • college curriculum choices

 

For Sophomores – Attend CLEO’s Super Sophomore Saturdays, a skills building seminar which exposes you to topics such as:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Writing skills

 

Also for Sophomores, apply for the Sophomore Summer Institute, a four week residential program designed to simulate law school setting and introduce the LSAT. You will be exposed to rigorous academic program that includes:

  • substantive legal courses
  • mock law classs
  • LSAT preparation
  • Moot court
  • Legal writing

 

For Juniors and Seniors/Postgraduates – Attend Juniors Jumpstart the LSAT which helps students understand how LSAT score impacts law school admission decisions and be exposed to topics such as:

  • strategies the help to achieve competitive LSAT score
  • benefits of systematic and disciplined LSAT preparation

 

Also, for Juniors and Seniors/Postgraduates for the Achieving Success in the Application Process (ASAP), a 3- day pre-law summer seminar which focuses on the law school application process. The primary goal of ASAP is to assist colleges students successfully gain admission to and succeed in law school. Topics covered are:

  • selecting a law school
  • drafting personal statements
  • LSAT preparation strategies
  • debt management
  • selecting sources for recommendation letters

 

For all pre-law students - The CLEO Diversity in Legal Education Blog can help you re-energize your enthusiasm, increase your prelaw knowledge, re-connect with friends and CLEO staff, and “get things done!” This blog is an open space for CLEO participants like you to have a voice and to share how to become a competitive law school applicant.
